State Of The Union Preview
Updated: Tuesday, February 12 2013, 09:13 PM EST
Look for President Obama to re-focus on the issue most crucial to Americans when he delivers his State of the Union address tonight, jobs and the economy.
The President will push for additional government spending to promote manufacturing, education, clean energy, and infrastructure.
He'll also warn Congress to avoid the automatic spending cuts in defense and education scheduled to go into effect March 1st.
Avoiding the automatic cuts and adding additional spending would require congressional approval, setting President Obama on a collision course with house republicans.
Following the State of the Union, the President will travel to Asheville to discuss proposals he unveils in his speech.
And the President is expected to talk to employees at the Linamar Plant in Skyland about how he will strengthen the economy for the middle class.
People we talked with this morning are hoping to hear him talk about the economy, job growth, and job creation.
The President will only be here for a couple of hours with a scheduled departure for Atlanta early in the afternoon.
This will his fourth trip to Asheville. His visit is not open to the public.
You can watch his speech on News 13 and we will also be streaming it live on our website and mobile APP.
Highway Patrol has not released what route President Obama will take to Linamar. Whichever way they go, expect temporary road closures. Make sure to give yourself a few extra minutes if you are headed to the airport tomorrow around the noon hour.
Also, APD says all detectives will be on the street tomorrow, while the President is in town.
