A Hendersonville woman has died after her car
was struck by a falling tree on US-64 Saturday morning. Troopers tell
us Anita Rhodes, 51, was heading east when the tree fell on top of her
vehicle. Her car ran off the road near Camp Judaea and came to a stop
down an embankment. Troopers believe Rhodes was killed instantly. No
other vehicles were involved.
Family says Rhodes was on her way to Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Edneyville to drop off church bulletins when the accident happened. Pastor Bryan Melton said the church family and the community are taking her loss extremely hard. He told News 13 she was a secretary at the church but more importantly she was a wife, mother and was about to become a grandmother. Melton said Rhodes loved life.
Troopers told News 13 they do not have an explanation on why the tree fell down.
