Updated: Friday, March 1 2013, 10:33 PM EST
Western Carolina University has a brand new Health and Human Sciences building.

The four-story, 160,000 square foot building open this fall but was officially dedicated this morning.

It's the university's first building on the west campus on Little Savannah Road.

The rooms are designed for health-related teaching and include specialized labs.

Funding for the $46 million building comes from the state of North Carolina.

The university's chancellor says the new facility has far-reaching implications.

Chancellor David Belcher, Western Carolina University, "what makes me most excited about the facility is what's right behind me...The clinic space in which our students and our faculty will be working with people from our area to deliver health care to people of Western North Carolina."

The new Health and Human Sciences building is home to more than 1200 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students.WCU Building Dedication
