North Carolina unemployment hits its highest level in 25 years.
Number released today by the state employment security commission put the jobless rate in January at 9.7%.
That's an increase of 1.6% since December.

Jamie Edmunds owned a successful catering business, shut down by the recession.
Now, he's making sandwiches at Jersey Mike's.
"It was hard to find jobs anywhere else cause if they have 'em they're holding on to them, like we had a lot of stuff canceled because of people laying off people," says Edmunds.
Jersey Mike's owner says one benefit of the higher unemployment is a lower employee turnover.
Right now, fewer people are giving up their jobs.
