Haywood County deputies say the body found on Panther Creek Road is that of a male, and they say his death is suspicous.
They say a family member may be able to confirm the identity of the victim.
Homeowners in the remote community say they doubt the victim lived there.
They suspect the body could have been brought from out of state.
Residents have faith in their Community Watch program to keep each other safe.
They plan to keep their lights on and their doors locked, and stay in touch with neighbors on the phone.
