Waynesville police are investigating the death of a man found unconscious outside of a local bar.
It happened at the Water'n Hole on North Main Street.
A bar employee called 911 at about 10:22 Saturday night.
That's when police say someone found 41-year-old Anthony Scarboro lying in the parking lot, unconscious and bleeding from the head and mouth.
An ambulance arrived and took Scarboro to Haywood Regional Medical Center and then to Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He died early Monday morning.
Family members say Anthony, or Tony, as they called him, was just married in March. He also leaves behind a 14-year-old daughter.
They say it's hard enough to lose him, but even harder because they don't know how it happened.
Police say it's possible Scarboro fell outside the bar and hit his head, but they're just not sure.
They're now investigating, interviewing witnesses, and waiting on preliminary autopsy results.
Investigators and Scarboro's parents are urging anyone with information to call the Waynesville Police Department.
A visitation is set for this Thursday at 10:30 a.m., at Allens Creek Baptist Church.
The funeral will follow immediately at noon.
