No Decision Yet in Change of Venue Hearing
The man accused of gunning down State Trooper Shawn Blanton was back in court for the second day for a change of venue hearing on Tuesday.
37 year old Edwardo Wong is charged with first degree murder in Blanton's death. He could face the death penalty if convicted.
Wong's lawyers don't want him to be tried by a Haywood County jury and Monday, a judge agreed to that.
On Tuesday, attorneys on both sides presented evidence to back up their picks as to where the trial should be held. The state's first pick is Haywood County, where the crime happened. They also suggested Cherokee and Macon Counties as possible locations.
Defense attorneys want the trial to be held in Gaston County and the judge suggested Catawba County.
By the end of the day, no decisions were reached and Wong was returned to the Haywood County Detention Center.
The hearing will resume next week.
