Cats Drop First SOCON Game, Brevard Cyclists Win Title, Weeks Honored (1-14-13)

Western Carolina loses at home to Elon 80-67. The Catamounts were trying to go 5-0 in the Southern Conference for the first time in school history, but two Christ School alum led Elon to the win.Lucas Troutman had 20 points and Sebastian Koch had 15 to lead the Phoenix. Trey Sumler scored a career high 32 in the loss, but had 2nd half fould trouble which limited his minutes.
Brevard College won the Division II Collegiate Cyclocross national title. The Tornados edged out Mars Hill for the championship.
UNCA first year player, Will Weeks named the Big South Freshman of the Week.
