Steven Reinhold from Waynesville Makes a Big Difference in the Community (1-21-13)

MAGGIE VALLEY - Steven Reinhold from Waynesville is a former college baseball player from the University of South Carolina.  He even played in the College World Series.  Now he spends his time in the great outdoors, using his unique talents to make a big difference in the community.

Strength, courage and determination.  Three things that Steven Reinhold gets from outdoor adventures.

Steven says, "I think we are completely addicted to our digital world.  It's good to get away from it sometimes and realize we don't need it.  There's a lot of other stuff out there."

Steven takes advantage of every opportunity that Western North Carolina offers from snowboarding to mountain biking and white water rafting.

Steven says, "Adrenaline is my drug of choice.  Snowboarding is a great way to get it."

Steven won an essay contest with Backpacker Magazine that will allow him to do a charity climb on Mount Whitney in California.  The climb will benefit Big City Mountaineers, a charity that gives under-served youth the opportunity to take wilderness backpacking trips with adult supervision.

Steven says, "My adventures give me strength, courage and the ability to lead a humble life.  I'd love to support something that gives kids the opportunity to incorporate those life skills into their future."

Steven has raised more than $4,000 for the Big City Mountaineers.  If you would like to donate, go to www.wlos.com and click on News Links.Steven Reinhold from Waynesville Makes a Big Difference in the Community (1-21-13)
