UNCA Falls In Big South, Cherokee Wins, Smoky Mtn. Falls In Prep Regionals (3-5-13)

UNCA's two year reign as Big South came to a crashing end Tuesday in the first round of the Big South Tournament in Myrtle Beach. The Dogs fall to 7 win Longwood, making their tournament debut, 87-72. UNCA finishes its season with a 16-16 record.
Cherokee girls make it to the 1A Western Regional Final with an easy 71-38 win over second seed North Wilkes. The top seeded Cherokee team plays 4th seed Bishop McGuinness Saturday at 11:30 am for the regional championship. Bishop McGuinness beat Cherokee in overtime last year in the regional championship game.
In the 2A boys game, top seed Smoky Mountain lost to 2nd seed Shelby 84-46.
