U.S. Mid-Am Title Match, Shrine Bowl Picks, Gardner Honored, TV Football Schedule (10-10-13)

The U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur had a thrilling finish at Biltmore Forest Country Club. Julia Potter beat Margaret Shirley in the championship match on the 19th hole. Shirley hit her approach shot to the green into a creek while Potter parred the hole to win. This is Potter's first USGA title and she  is the first lefty to win a USGA women's championship.


Two mountain football players chosen to play in December 21st Shrine Bowl Game at Wofford. Two offensive lineman picked--Cameron Burton of Reynolds and Nathan Dalton of East Henderson. Another mountain player, Owen junior running back Jager Gardner was named NCPreps.com 2A state player of the week. He gained 301 yards in the Warhorses win over Mitchell.


College football on ABC 13 and MY 40 Saturday. On Abc 13 at noon its Texas vs Oklahoma. Boston College plays at Clemson at 3:30. On MY 40 its a 12:30 kickoff for Navy at Duke.
