Trey Sumler scores 27 as Western Carolina rips the Citadel 67-51 in the first round of the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament in Asheville. Western plays third seed College of Charleston Saturday night at 8:30.
The 9th seed Western Carolina women's team lose to number 8 Georgia Southern 68-51. WCU finishes with a 7-23 record.
In the preps, top seed Hendersonville upset by 14th seed East Surry 73-65. Shawn Rogers led the Bearcats with 23 points. They finish the season with a 24-4 record.
