In Western Regional finals play Tuesday night, one long winning streak was extended and another came to an end.

The No. 2 seed Murphy baseball team improved to 26-0 with a 4-1 win over visiting Lincoln Charter.

The Bulldogs lead the best-of-three series 1-0 and will play at No. 4 seed Lincoln Charter (21-5) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

A win there would put Murphy into the state 1A championship series for a second straight year.

Game 3, if necessary, would be Saturday in Murphy.

In 2A, Franklin softball’s winning streak ended at 22 straight with a home loss, 2-0 to No. 13 Bunker Hill.

Bunker Hill (17-6) leads the series 1-0 and will host the second-seeded Panthers at 6 p.m. Thursday.

If needed, Franklin would host Game 3 at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Roberson girls soccer team lost in the Western Regional final to Cox Mill 3-1. The fourth-seeded Rams (20-5-1) led 1-0 in the second half but couldn’t hold on against No. 2 Cox Mill (19-2-2).
