49 schools compete in Blue Ridge Classic track and field event

ASHEVILLE, NC -- The Blue Ridge Classic is the largest annual track and field meet in Western North Carolina.

The meet returned to the mountains for the 15th time Saturday with all the athletes competing at AC Reynolds High School.

49 different schools and 87 teams competed Saturday afternoon in a variety of events including long jump, high jump, discus, hurdles and sprints.

It's become one of the most important events on the calendar for local track and field teams.
