5th annual Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout pushes fundraising total past $100k mark
WLOS - Thirteen area high school teams descended on Kimmel Arena on the campus of UNC Asheville this weekend for the 5th annual Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout. The event is supported by the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association, with Enka High School boys coach Brian Carver serving as director. "The American Cancer Society asked us to do something big to bring Coaches vs Cancer to the high school level," explained Carver. "We came up with this dream of what we wanted for this event to be and it has far exceeded our expectations."
Carver also said this year's event pushed the overall donations total to more than $100,000 over the lifespan of the tournament.
