CANDLER, NC -- Six year-old Tatum Michales who just graduated kindergarten at Hominy Valley has earned the right to participate in a national motocross event later this summer.

We caught up with Tatum Saturday at Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, TN.

Tatum had to compete in a regional qualifier in order to earn the right to be invited to the AMA National Motocross Finals at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN.

Out of 36 qualifiers, Tatum finished in fifth place and earned his spot in the big event.

His father, Todd told us a little bit about what it takes for his son to race at such a high level.
