Leicester - The Erwin High Warriors will see a lot of new faces this season. The MAC runnersup of 2016 will be have to replace their record setting quarterback, wide receiver and most importantly--coach. Quarterback Daniel Ferguson and game breaking receiver C.J. Thompson graduated and will be playing for Mars Hill this fall. Coach Mike Sexton has moved up to athletic director and has been replaced by ten year assistant Rodney Pruett.

Pruett says being a leader is nothing new but knows this is different. He said, " I had some leadership roles under previous coaches here, but when the buck stops with you, you're wearing all those hats---guidance counselor, social worker, mom, dad. You know the coaching aspect is the easiest part of the job."

The hard part will be trying to replace playmakers. He has two youngsters vying for the quarterback job, Owen transfer Kendrick Weaver and j.v. quarterback Riley Towles.Senior running back Isaiah Poore will be counted on to lead the offensive attack . The defense has 5 starters returning and will focus on stopping the run, something the Warriors weren't successful in doing last season.

Erwin begins its season, hosting 1A power Mitchell on August 18.
