Madison wins battle of unbeatens in softball

Marshall - Madison used a big 4th inning to take the battle of unbeatens in prep softball 7-2 on Wednesday. North Buncombe and Madison came into their non conference game with perfect records , North Buncombe was 12-0 while Madison was 11-0. Madison bats and a complete game from Savannah Rice proved to be the difference.

Madison led 4-0 after their four run outburst, with two of the runs coming in on Ashley Hamlin's base hit up the middle. The Blackhawks answered in the 5th on Lauren Allen's two run homer over the fence in right center, the blast cut the lead in half.

The Patriots put the game away in the 6th on Brooklyn Franklin's two run home run to center to make it 7-2. Savannah Rice got the win while Caitlin Griffin gets the loss. Madison, now 12-0 hosts Mountain Heritage Friday. North Buncombe which dropped to 12-1 and go back in conference Friday when they host Enka. The Blackhawks are 10-0 in the WMAC.
