Pisgah boys pull away late to beat Enka
WLOS – The Enka Jets are coming off back-to-back seasons where they failed to register double-digit win totals, including just seven all of last season; they’ve already notched eight this season and were looking for number nine against a 3-4 Pisgah squad. The Bears jumped on the Jets early, however. Mason Herbert opened the scoring for Pisgah with a foul line jumper off a fast break and eventually led the team with 14 points on the evening. The Jets were uncharacteristically slow-starting, finally getting some momentum in the post from senior Jay Walton who led all scorers with 17 points. Enka could not overcome the slow start, and Pisgah played lockdown defense, holding Brian Carver’s squad to under 65 points for just the third time this season with a 70-61 win.
The Bears host Smoky Mountain on Friday while Enka travels to East Henderson on January 2nd.
