We are one week away from the start of the Prep Football season.  The Erwin Warriors hosted the defending 1A State Champs, Murphy in a preseason scrimmage on Friday night.  The teams did not keep score, instead they worked on honing their skills and getting more comfortable on the field.

Correlle Prime goes 4-5 with two homers including a Grand Slam as the Asheville Tourists beat the Augusta Green Jackets 10-2.

Golfers from all over the country gather in Asheville to compete in the US Hickory Open.  Players can use only wood-shafted clubs from the 1930's as well as wear clothing from the same era.  The golfers wear Plus-Fours, high socks, shirt and ties and hats.  Murphy and Erwin Work on Skills at Football Scrimmage, Tourists Roll Again as Prime Delivers, US Hickory Golf Open Thrives in Asheville (8-15-14)
