Local chaplain fulfills dream of announcing for Asheville Tourists
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) —
Tim Lolley is a man of many talents, and he's doing his best to make sure he uses each and every one to its fullest potential.
This year, he's tackling a new challenge and loving every minute of it. For this week's Game Changer, life is all about chasing after your dreams in hopes that you might catch them.
At Hazelwood Baptist Church in Waynesville, Lolley wears his Sunday best every weekend.
"That's my primary job, pastoring in Waynesville. I'm a chaplain with the sheriff's office in Haywood County," Lolley said. "I have a wedding business. I do weddings at Biltmore and Grove Park and all of that, and then I sleep. There's a window of about an hour and a half where I sleep, man."
Time for sleep may be difficult to find, but his passion for life is overflowing.
"I love living life. My thing is, you go through this one time, and you do go to a better place, that's what I believe," Lolley said. "Man, for right now, fill it with what makes you happy, and what brings you joy and what fulfills you, and that's what I'm doing. I'm living my dream."
Tim doesn't hunt or fish, but he loves watching baseball. Now, he gets paid for that, too. Tim is the new public address announcer for the Asheville Tourists.
"I have always dreamed of being in this position. Coming to the ballgames, I used to always fantasize what it would be like to be the voice of the Asheville Tourists," he said. "Now that I have that opportunity, it's a dream come true for me."
He's still learning all about the job, but his perpetual optimism allows him to take on every challenge.
"It was like jumping on a treadmill that's going 80 miles per hour, man," he said. "Just hold on, baby. It's going to be OK!
Tim may not get much sleep during this baseball season, but that's fine with him as long as he gets to keep filling his life with the people and the things that he loves.
