Teen Mom Charged With Felony Abuse
Lauren Bickford is accused of doing the unthinkable. Investigators say she abused her three month old baby so badly it resulted in permanent or long term injuries. Arrest warrants indicate the crime happened January 23rd and was intentional.
Residents of the Oakley neighborhood where Bickford lives reacted angrily to the news Thursday. "It's terrible. She should be locked up if it's true," said Carrie Waldrop. "Makes you feel angry and sad," said Brenner Hanson.
At just 19-years-old Bickford has already amassed an extensive rap sheet. In December she was charged with her second hit and run of 2012 when a man said she used a car to knock him off a scooter, then back over him. Right now Bickford has at least 19 pending criminal charges from separate cases. Some of the allegations include burglary, possession of meth, and theft.
Bickford remains locked up at the Buncombe jail, but News 13's Mario Boone still went to her house hoping to find relatives who can explain what is going on here. There was no answer.
"Kids are your most important thing in life. You got to cherish them because there are so many people out there that want kids and can't have them," said Waldrop.
Bickford's next court date is March 1st. Her bond is set at $105,000.
