Ghost Town Reopening
Ghost Town in the Sky in Maggie Valley will open as planned May 25th, just not all of it. The State Labor Department says the Maggie Valley amusement park has to put in an emergency access road underneath the chairlift before guests can ride to the top of the mountain.
Owner Alaska Presley says since she didn't get that done in time for Saturday’s scheduled opening, she'll bring the Western town entertainment to the lower level, free of charge.
Presley says, “So we'll have everything down here at the bottom to entertain people. We’ll have dancers. We’ll have gunfights. We’ll have everything down here at the A-frame in the bottom.”
That includes a concert by the Porter Family Saturday night at 6 p.m. Presley says she expects the road to be done by Thursday and approved by inspectors. She says she'll have another grand opening next weekend.
