Bad Bridges Report
Three of the state's worst bridges are in Western North Carolina.
A newly released study by Triple-A Carolinas ranks the 20 most structurally deficient bridges in need of repairs or complete replacement.
One such bad bridge is along I-26, over Hominy Creek.
The bridge over Hominy Creek is already in first phase of replacement.
Nearly 300,000 vehicles a week pass over the bridge.
The DOT says if there any threat to public safety it would simply close the bridge.
