Project X Incentives Approved
Buncombe County commissioners approve incentives for a mystery business called Project X. Their unanimous vote sets in motion a planned expansion that offers financial incentives in exchange for the promise of jobs and increased tax revenue.
The unnamed company will reportedly make a $125 million investment. Officials say it will create 52 jobs with an average pay of $57 thousand and also generate about $3 million in added tax revenue.
Buncombe County's commitment would be more than $18 million for a land-swap, building expansion and other incentives.
County commissioners say confidentiality has been insisted upon by the as yet unnamed business. They say they hope further details will be released soon.
