BorgWarner Plant Expansion

A manufacturing plant in Fletcher gets an "okay" from Henderson County Commissioners for help adding 80 new jobs and installing new equipment.

More than a half-million dollars worth of tax breaks over a seven year period.

The BorgWarner plant in Fletcher makes parts for cars and trucks.

The incentive package is aimed at BorgWarners' plans to invest $24-million to add new manufacturing equipment to the plant.

That would also add eighty new jobs to the plant and BorgWarner says their pay would average about $28/hour.

In the first year, BorgWarner would receive a $24,000 tax break and the maximum tax break would result in a total of $585,000 over seven years.

County officials say the increase in taxes they receive from the additional workers and the additional value of the plant pay for those tax breaks in the future.
