Mom Builds Million-Dollar Company
Angie Bridges founded Creative Gift Packaging in Rutherford County 13 years ago.
She did it to make extra money for her three kids, and worked out of the bedroom closet of the family's trailer.
Her husband Josh says it was routine for her to work 16 and 17 hour days for years, as she was building what's now become a global company worth about $2 million.
She steered the business full-time during her battle with breast cancer, never missing a day of work.
She says all it has been for her children and grandchildren.
"So that they have a good life - and don't have to work quite as hard as we did all of our life," said Bridges from her desk inside the company's Forest City store.
The company primarily sells over the internet - and has shipped items as far as Great Britain and Australia.
The dream now, Bridges says, is to build more stores. Plans are already in the works for locations in Shelby and Spartanburg.
