Proposed Energy Rate Increase

Angry residents are expected Monday night during a hearing for a proposed energy rate increase. Duke Energy Carolinas is proposing a 16.3% percent increase for residential customers. The increase would be the third in four years for the more than half-a-million customers in the upstate. Some residents and businesses say the hike is too much, but the company says it's necessary to pay for recent capital investments. The second of four hearings on the rate increase will take place tonight at 6 p.m. in Greenville.
