Macon Detective Injured
A Macon County detective is hurt while making an arrest and it hits close to home for the sheriff.
Sheriff Robbie Holland says his brother, Tim, was serving a failure to appear in court warrant on William Sheffield on Wednesday. He says Sheffield resisted arrest, spitting at Tim Holland, and even threatening him with a knife.
Eventually, the detective was able to subdue Sheffield. Now, he's facing much more serious charges.
The Sheriff says, “He would have been arrested, placed in custody and probably re-bonded. But now he's looking at a $20,000 additional bond and some very serious charges.”
Those charges include assaulting a law enforcement officer, carrying a concealed weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. Sheffield has a court date scheduled for June 27th.
Detective Tim Holland suffered minor injuries and is expected to be okay.
