A hugely popular Asheville beer festival is at the center of a neighborhood dispute. Folks who live around Martin Luther King Park says it's time for Brewgrass to go. Residents say they don't like drunk people wandering through their neighborhood and that a rowdy beer festival doesn't belong there.
Neighborhood association president Renee White says she's met with festival organizers several times. She says she's asked them and the city to look for a new space. Organizer say they hear the complaints and are actively looking for a new space.
Brewgrass promoter Eddie Dewey says they've considered McCormick Field and Memorial Stadium as possible alternative locations for Brewgrass. Dewey says it's important they festival be held in a contained area for crowd control purposes.
Brewgrass will be held on September 21st.
