Demonstrators came out to protest governor Pat McCrory during his visit to the mountains Monday. They're rallying at Robbinsville High School. North Carolina teachers are upset over low pay and no raises in this year's state budget.
Several teachers say it's unfair for Governor McCrory to give ex-campaign staffers a $20,000 salary hike, while teachers in the mountains make $30,800.
"Our beginning teachers here can make more money working at McDonalds than they can serving the state of North Carolina," said Crystal White.
