All Watauga Co. Schools Evacuated After Threat
Students & faculty in Watauga County are returning to class after every school in the county was evacuated following a bomb threat.
Boone police said someone called 911 at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and said there was a bomb in an unspecified school in the Watauga County School District.
Officers are on scene at all nine schools and every school will be searched as a precaution.
School district officials said students are being moved to safe areas on or near the school campuses.
Several fire departments in the county have been called in to help law enforcement.
School district officials said they expect students to be in class by noon. A statement on the districts website said there is no reason for parents to pick up their children early.
Students in Watauga County started school last week. The district has about 4,500 students.
