Huge Season Opener for Clemson Football
College football season has finally arrived, and the biggest game of the opening weekend is at Clemson University. The Tigers (AP #8) will host the Georgia Bulldogs (AP #5) in what some fans are calling the biggest home game in Clemson's history. The atmosphere on campus was electric on Friday, with the ESPN College Gameday crew adding to the excitement as they set up for Saturday morning's pregame show.
"I'm really looking forward to it, all week we've been building up to it," says Clemson fan Christopher Kennedy. "I don't know [if this is] the biggest game, because we got the biggest game coming up in January for the National Championship," he says with pride.
Fellow fan Joshua Baghdady agrees. "I'm expecting big things...I know with our win against LSU last year we're hoping to follow it up with another SEC win tomorrow."
Clemson President Jim Barker, who stepped down last year and is still presiding over the university until the Board of Trustees can find his replacement, is expecting a good game and a win.
"[I'm] anxious to welcome the UGA fans that are coming, and show them how Tigers show hospitality. We intend to beat you...but we're gonna be great sports about it and we want you to have a great experience at Clemson."
Even the student body president can't hide her excitement. "I've been looking forward to this game since football eneded last year. I've been doing the countdown on twitter and on all sorts of social media, and I can't believe it's finally here," says senior Kayley Seawright.
The game will air on WLOS this Saturday night, August 31st at 8pm.
