E-Verify Veto Battle
The North Carolina House voted to override Governor Pat McCrory's veto of a bill that would extend the E-Verify deadline. The internet based system checks whether or not temporary workers are eligible to work in the U.S. Farmers say extending the deadline from three to nine months would save them time and allow them to keep their workers. But Governor McCrory argues the extension would make it easier for illegals to join the crew. The Senate will take up the measure Wednesday morning.
