Baby Veronica Rally
Residents in Cherokee rallied Friday afternoon for the return of a young girl to the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma.
4-year-old Veronica Brown was adopted by a South Carolina couple. After years of dispute over her custody, the Oklahoma Supreme Court dissolved a court order that had kept Veronica with her biological Cherokee father. Her adoptive parents are taking her back to South Carolina.
Protesters like Tracie French say that's wrong.
"If she's way down in South Carolina, she's not going to have the culture anything that we have here you know and they have out in Oklahoma," said French.
The attorney general for the Cherokee Nation says he's deeply saddened by the decision.
