Multiple Businesses Burglarized
At least three shopkeepers in Asheville open their businesses to find piles of shattered glass and doors pried open.
Police have not released any details about the burglary, but two of the victims tell us he didn't take anything from their businesses.
A staff member at Edible Arrangements in Regency Park swept up shattered glass around a big rock that the burglar tossed through the window. It spread the shards all over the flood and the sidewalk outside. The store's security camera got several good shots of the burglar as he wandered around the counter and in the kitchen area of the store. Apparently, he wasn't interested in computers in the building and the cash was locked up, so the store owner says he didn't take anything.
Diana King, Edible Arrangements owner, "there's nothing here, I mean, it's a fruit store, so unless you're hungry, and you need to get something to eat, we really don't have anything here in the store that is vital, to someone going to a pawn shop or anything like that, but they hit a couple of places, so obviously they were trying to get money for the day."
Managers there say he pried a door open and went through some desk drawers but left when he couldn't find any cash.
Managers at the nearby Asheville Racquet Club downtown at the Crowne Plaza say the thief used a rock to smash a glass door. He went into Asheville Scuba and took a cash register and printer.
Store owners say he's a tall white male and was dressed in a black cap, black shirt, and pants.
