I-26 West, Multiple Wrecks
UPDATE (10:14 A.M.) Traffic is flowing once again on I-26 West after 3 separate wrecks near the 33 mile marker. Asheville Police tell us the first call came in around 7:30 this morning. There were injuries in these wrecks, but no serious injuries. The cause has not been determined.
UPDATE (9:25 A.M.) All lanes on I-26 west are back open. Still heavy congestion in the area near the Brevard Road exit from earlier wrecks.
UPDATE (9:12 A.M.): Lanes on I-26 West near Brevard Road exit not expected to reopen until 10 am, per NCDOT. Blocked from multiple wrecks in area, near MM 33. 3 separate wrecks: 2 in westbound lanes and 1 in eastbound lanes, plus disabled vehicle.
(8:59 A.M.) There are 3 separate wrecks now. Two wrecks and a disabled vehicle on I-26 west near the Brevard Road exit, and another wreck on the eastbound side. Traffic is moving very slow on I-26 west right now. There are injuries reported, but we don't know the extent of the injuries yet.
(8:09 A.M.) Asheville Police working 2 separate wrecks on I-26 West near the Brevard Road exit. There's also a disabled vehicle in the same area. Both westbound lanes are blocked near the Brevard Road exit right now. Injuries are reported and EMS is on scene.
