North Carolina Insurance Rate Analysis
A study released says some Western North Carolinians will actually be paying more than the rest of the nation once the Affordable Care Act takes effect. President Obama and Bill Clinton talked about the numbers in New York Tuesday night. Obama indicated the cost for many younger Americans will be no more than a monthly cell phone bill. But a Manhattan Institute analysis finds individual market-rates will triple for women in their 20's, and quadruple for men of the same age. That would mean a major impact, because of North Carolina population trends. Many believe healthy, young people will decide against paying for coverage and pay the annual penalty instead.
