Locals Fear Government Shutdown
The countdown to the potential government shutdown has folks in Downtown Asheville watching the clock in frustration.
"Seems like a lot of gamesmanship to me," says Justin Belleme, a small business owner.
Robyn Harrison of Asheville fears the worst.
"It scares me for what it will do to people in need," Harrison says. "The country will plummet."
The main stumbling block in budget negotiations has been Obamacare.
"Truthfully disappointed about Obamacare," says Claire Newkirk. "I'd like to go slowly if we go at all."
"I think they should give it a chance," says Claire's friend Sally Jones.
"What I'd like to do is implement it slower, rather than the whole sha-bang at one time," Newkirk explains.
"I don't think they will come to an agreement," says Sally Jones. "I think they will let the government shut down."
Some, still hold out hope.
"Cause they're not gonna shut down the government at midnight," says Brie Sparks of Asheville. "That just doesn't make any sense."
