Charter Customers Make Digital Switch
Change leaves some mountain cable customers confused. Many have flocked to Charter Communications' mobile store off Peachtree Road in South Asheville.
As we reported last month, starting October 1st, Charter began its switch to all-digital, leaving the analog age behind. That change requires viewers to use a converter box for each TV.
Charter is providing the needed equipment for free.
The company says it informed customers in advance, but many have called News 13 asking why they can't see their favorite channels.
"Through the end of this year, Charter is going all digital in the Asheville and Greenville markets," says regional communications director Patti Michel. "And each week different communities will be cut into the all digital, where they'll receive 70 new HD channels in this area. "
Charter's digital switch will continue through the end of the year.
