Teen Brings Gun to Owen High School
A 15-year-old Owen High School student is charged with bringing a handgun to school.
The gun was found by a school official on Friday. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office arrested the teen. Deputies say the boy also had knives and drug paraphernalia in his backpack. Deputies say the teen had not made any threats against students at the school.
Owen High School Principal Meg Turner sent out an automated voice message to parents on Friday alerting them to what had happened. Turner credits her staff members quick thinking for preventing the situation from escalating further.
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says the teen's case will be taken up in juvenile court.
