Cherokee County Shooting Investigation
A domestic argument leads to a life-threatening gunshot wound and a dog attack.
Cherokee County investigators say the two victims, a mother and her son, were friends with the suspect.
It was about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Peachtree community when Sheriff Keitih Lovin says a single gunshot was fired at Scott Wilsons home along Cornwell Lane.
"There was an argument, but we're really not sure what the specifics are what the argument originated over," said Lovin.
Investigators say Wilson shot 25-year-old Dustin Miller once in the leg, but he suffered a lot of blood loss.
Lovin says Millers mother, 45-year-old Cynthia Conley was bitten by Wilson's dogs, resulting in bites on her arms and legs.
54-year-old Wilson's arrest warrant shows he's charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The sheriff says the argument started inside the home and continued outside, agitating his dogs. He also says at least the two men had been drinking.
Sheriff Lovin says the investigation is ongoing. Cynthia Conley is in fair condition but Dustin Miller has been in critical. Both were taken to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The sheriff says if Miller's condition worsens, it would change the complexion significantly. The investigation continues.
Scott Wilson is in jail on 10 thousand dollars bond. He has an October 15th court date.
The Sheriff says the two boxers are with a neighbor and under a 10 day quarantine.
