Assistance Funding Restored
A Buncombe county officials says funding for all public assistance programs affected by the federal government shutdown have now officially been restored as of 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Wic, WorkFirst, Daycare Vouchers and Snap had all been under orders to stop processing new applications and that funds for existing recipients would dry up by the end of the month. Daycare Voucher had been on hold for two days last week but restored after state officials found contingency funds to keep the programs running.
Buncombe County Health and Human Services says none of it's clients lost their public assistance during the shutdown. But they say the state did freeze Employment Services under the WorkFirst program and some emergency cash assistance. All funding has now been restored and all applications are now being processed.
