Remembering Lola Ramsey

A young girl who was struck last week on Airport Road, along with her younger brother, has died. 5-year old Lola Ramsey died Sunday at Mission Hospital. Her brother, 2-year-old Silas, continues to recover in the pediatric wing.

Both Lola and Silas were hit by an SUV on Airport Road last Wednesday. They had just walked their mother to work at Walmart and headed home. The driver of the SUV has been cleared. But the Highway Patrol says their mother's boyfriend, the man who was with them, could be charged with child abuse and neglect.

Investigators spoke with another eyewitness Monday who says the children were 10 to 15 feet away from their mother's boyfriend when they were hit.

Family remembers Lola as bubbly child who was a joy to be around. She had just started kindergarten at Avery's Creek Elementary.

Eblen Charities has stepped forward to cover all costs for Lola's funeral. The charity also welcomes anyone to make a donation as well. Click here for more information, or you can drop the donation off at Eblen Charities located at 50 Westgate Parkway in West Asheville.
