Preparations are underway for the 67th annual Asheville Holiday Parade. This year's theme is "A Star is Born." Meghan Rogers of the Asheville Downtown Association says there will be several grand marshalls, all involved in the performing arts. Rogers says this year's parade will have 15-20 more entries than last years, putting the total number of entries at 101. This parade will also feature the return of giant helium balloons, three to be exact.
Bojangles, the presenting sponsor of the parade, is entering a large "Bo Box" float in the competition. Marketing Director Amanda Housand says there will be two Bojangles mobile kitchens set up near the parade route to serve plenty of warm food and drink to parade goers. Businesses along the parade route like Double D's Coffee & Desserts, say they are looking forward to the big business from the large crowd.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. WLOS will stream it live on WLOS.com.
