UPDATE: Doctor Pleads Guilty to Assault
Doctor Robert Lilly has pleaded guilty to assault on a female after he admitted to molesting a 73-year-old woman during a July 2012 appointment.
Both mountain wellness centers where he was seeing patients as recently as Monday said Wednesday they have terminated his lease.
The director of Body Synergy in Flat Rock, where the incident occurred, said he had never been made aware that the event had occurred. Mike Phillips says neither Lilly, the victim, nor law enforcement ever informed him of the incident. He says, if he had been made aware, Lilly would have been evicted immediately.
In the July 23 incident, the victim says she fell asleep during the treatment and when she woke up, Lilly had one hand on her chest and the other on her groin, underneath her gown.
Lilly pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on a female in Henderson County court August 15, 2013 and was sentenced to one year of counseling with a final sentencing date in August 2014.
Lilly also saw patients out of the Adawehi Wellness Center in Columbus. Adawehi Director Jackie Woods said Tuesday Lilly's lease "will be terminated".
On October 26 the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners ordered Lilly's license be suspended for six months, starting January 1. Following the suspension, Lilly is ordered to be on probation for two years, during that time a nurse must be present for any exam involving a female patient.
A spokesperson says his license was not immediately suspended so that he would have time to refer patients to other providers.
