Murder Suspect In Court
Investigators are now checking to see if a local woman's disappearance is connected to a double murder suspect.
Vincent Franklin is charged with first degree murder in the shooting deaths of his mother and stepfather, Joy and Andre Runne. He made his first court appearance Thursday.
According to family members, Franklin's girlfriend was last seen in September. Police say they took a missing person's report on November 5th. Now Asheville Police are teaming up with deputies to find 23-year-old Cheyenne Vantreese. With Franklin facing two murder charges, her family fears the worst. She and Franklin have a 5-year-old daughter together.
Meanwhile in court Thursday, Franklin was told he faces the death penalty or life in prison for the deaths of his mother and stepfather. He's also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Franklin has been charged with a number of misdemeanor crimes in the past, including assaults on a female. But most were dismissed by the district attorney. Franklin was also charged earlier this month with assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, DWI, and hit and run after a stabbing incident at the Econo Lodge on Tunnel Road. Two people were injured and he received a stab wound as well.
Vincent Franklin is being held with no bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 12th.
