Food Truck Kickstarted
Asheville's latest food-truck venture was paid for by people online. The owner used Kickstarter, a high-tech way to grow grassroots business. Fuel just opened in West Asheville Wednesday morning with funding from the web. Kickstarter is set-up like an eBay auction. Website-users can pledge any amount by credit card. If the goal is met, the entrepreneur gets the money. If not, it's returned. Fuel earned $16,000 through Kickstarter. There are currently about a half dozen Asheville ventures listed on Kickstarter. They include clothing, arts, music and a video-game project.
