First Cold Front Arrives

The coldest air of the season is prompting local organizations to take action.

There is a code purple in effect again for tonight, that means anyone with out a place to stay tonight can go to a shelter to stay warm.

These cold temperatures are not only harmful to people, but their pets.

Homeless shelters don't take pets, so the Asheville Humane Society created a safety net program.

It helps Buncombe County residents with demonstrated financial needs, in keeping families with their pets.

For example they can house a pet on a cold night like last night and tonight.

Employees here at the humane society want people to remember to protect your pets.

Sick pets will feel the effects of the cold more than a healthy animal.
