Lighting of Ingles Giving Tree
The 21st annual lighting of the Ingles Giving Tree will take place at the Asheville Mall from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, November 25th . The tree will be located in the same spot as last year, at the Barnes & Noble entrance, directly in front of Verizon Wireless.
A children's choir from Bell Elementary will be at the lighting to sing Christmas Carols. They will also be helping with the countdown. Also present at the lighting, will be the AC Reynolds Woodwinds Ensemble. Mrs. Ingle & Ingles CFO Ron Freeman will light the tree live, during our 5:30 p.m. newscast.
Ingles will be giving away a $500 gift card at the end of the night. Anyone who comes to the lighting and makes a donation will be eligible to win.
The building of the tree will begin Saturday, November 23rd around 9 p.m. and will be completed before the mall opens again on Sunday. The tree will be made of approximately 10 tons of food donated by Ingles. It will stand about 22 feet tall. Along with help from Ingles, it will be built by Rudi Sommer, Logistics & Facilities Manager with Manna Food Bank, and volunteers. The tree will take donations from November 25th- January 2nd, 2014.
Participating Ingles Stores across Western North Carolina will be selling Ingles Giving Tree icons for a $1.00 each at the cash registers. All the proceeds will go to Manna Food Bank. Viewers can buy icons now through November 30th.
